Happy Birthday, Popeye!
The iconic sailor is celebrating his 90th year today with the debut of his highly-anticipated “Popeye’s Cartoon Club.” First seen in the 1930s, the original “Popeye’s Cartoon Club” ran at the end of E.C. Segar’s “The Thimble Theater” comic strip and featured fan art that he personally selected. The Cartoon Club’s return pays homage to the original run by inviting top cartoonists from around the world, such as Erica Henderson, Liniers and Roger Langridge, to be part of the anniversary celebration with by creating original Popeye comic strips in their own unique styles.
“Popeye’s Cartoon Club” launches today on ComicsKingdom.com with an original strip created by the renown Argentinian cartoonist, Liniers, and fresh content from a different cartoonist will be posted on the site weekly throughout 2019.
